New Perspective

Street Dreams

Gunner SGT - Down Payment

Gunner SGT (a rock band from the UK) approached me to create a music video for their song Down Payment which was to go on their first EP. They wanted me to create a story based around the lyrics of the song, and asked that I include the gas mask, which is part of their identity.

I created this 4 minute stop motion animation to show the characters journey as she sinks deeper and deeper into her thoughts.

Taking influence from the work of Matt Stawski who works with combining hand drawn elements with filmed footage, I created this music video concept by uniting ink drawing backgrounds with green screen footage. Instead of just passing through her environment, the character has an affect on it, changing it as she passes through.

Street Dreams title sequence

The brief was to create a title sequence for an existing movie using source files and After Effects techniques to introduce viewers to the film. Street Dreams is a film made by skateboarders, for skateboarders, so my title sequence had to have a certain attitude to it. The colour scheme, transitions, visual style and soundtrack all set the tone for the hard-edged, devil-may-care attitude that the film has.

LakeEffectKid Designs

LakeEffectKid Designs is a small apparel business I started this year and have worked on developing alongside my university studies.

Inspired by the music scene, it has become popular amongst youth aged 13 - 21. I originally designed shirts based on song lyrics but now work with a writer to create completely original, exciting designs.  I am involved in the whole process, from the initial ideas, to printing the shirts, managing orders and keeping in contact with customers, then shipping them off.

Televised

Based on Eurostile, Televised is a typeface i created inspired by the unique shape of old television screens. It was drawn, produced and kerned entirely by hand using ink pens and a photocopier.

‘OE’ - Horizon Theatre

The brief was to create a poster advertising the play ‘OE’ at Horizon Theatre. It had to represent the tone and content of the play, in order to attract the target audience. I created a pastiche of a passport, with stamps showing the necessary information, as well as quotes from the play itself. The poster would only be stuck down on the right side, with the left side flapping in the Wellington wind, catching viewers attention with the altered passport cover.
